Fish Tank Plant fertilizer - ideas?

... in the water even though it shows the same growth effect and it does not affect fish either. Does anybody have a feel, waht that could be? Is it maleate or a buffered citroic acid/base? Any hints are much appreciated! Kind regards, Marc
