Dictionary » M » Magnoliaceae MagnoliaceaeThe most primitive family among class Magnoliopsida. It is comprised by woody plants (shrubs and small trees) coming from Easter asia and East shore of northern America. They have quite big simple leaves with petioles. Spiral arrangement of leaves. Most characteristic trait of that family is the flower.
Despite having quite primitive flowers, Magnoliaceae have wood (xylem) consisting of tracheids, which is the sign of specialisation.

Results from our forumdoble fertilization-first genusYeah extinct genus i count in with it. But surely it must be from family magnoliaceae cause i read that these angiosperms spread throughout the world already at the end of mesosoic era.
