Are you going to phenotype the plants already in F1? You can always grow lots of plants and pick several of them for further work. By that you will be always sure you will have enough plants for your work.

Stem Cells/Differentiation

... it only stem cells that differentiate or are there other types of unspecialised cells? 4. When would a cell differentiate? Surely if someone loses lots of liver cells for example mitosis will replicate them rather than new ones through differnentiation?
