Linkage

(Science: genetics) tendency for two or more non-allelic genes to be inherited together, because they are located more or less closely on the same chromosome.

Linkage disequilibrium

I understand that alleles located on different chromosomes can be in linkage disequilibrium. How does this occur (the genes are not physically linked). For example, I've read that genes for long-tails and genes for preference for long-tails are in linkage ...

Molecular gene (genome) concept scientifically untenable

... gene and messenger RNA. Finally, the occurrence of nested genes invalidates the simpler and earlier idea of the linear arrangement of genes in the linkage group, and gene assembly similarly confutes the idea of a simple one-to-one correspondence between the gene as the unit of transmission and ...

Re: Genetics question

it is somewhat difficult to draw a squarer chart of this cross.. linkage and independent assortment depends upon the the distance between two genes.. closer the two genes stronger will be the gene linkage and lesser will be the chances of independent assortment.. ...
