Linitis

inflammation of cellular tissue, specifically of the perivascular tissue of the stomach.

Origin: g. Linon, flax, linen cloth, _ -itis, inflammation

linitis plastica, originally believed to be an inflammatory condition, but now recognised to be due to infiltrating scirrhous carcinoma causing extensive thickening of the wall of the stomach; often called leather-bottle stomach.
