a genus of parasitic flagellated protozoans which causes diseases in animals including humans, most notably leishmaniasis. A type of trypanosome.

And one other thing John. Are you aware that our own Gov't Agencey called the CDC has been saying that there is no incedents of Leishmania, etc., in the North America- for it is not indigenous to our area....blah,blah But now, very, very recently, they have slid onto their website something ...
