Ldl

Ldl --> low density lipoprotein

(Science: biochemistry) a lipoprotein substances (combination of a fat and a protein) which acts as a carrier for cholesterol and fats in the bloodstream.

high levels of low density lipoprotein are considered a positive risk factor for the development of coronary artery disease. Less than 130 mg/dl is desirable, 130 to 159 mg/dl is borderline high, over 160 is considered high.

... Of cause sole saturated fatty acids are not good for health, but I don't think there is any food that solely consisted of saturated fat. Remember LDL and HDL? Check it out on HDL for more information.

Insulin resistance and LDL/HDL

Hi there, I'm currently reading about how diabetes leads to CVD via increase LDL/lowered HDL but everywhere I look it doesn't excatly say HOW insulin resistance leads to this....one point I can think of is that ppl with diabetes esp type 2 tend to be overweight ...

"Bad" cholesterol ist also called "HDL" (high density lipoprotein) und "good" is used for "LDL" (low density lipoprotein Aehm, it's the other way round: LDL = "bad" HDL = "good" Sry, again :-/ Shame on me.
