Jamaican gooseberry



Herb-like species in Phyllanthaceae family of Class Magnoliopsida.


The plant is found only in Central America and South America. It is used locally as a piscicide to eliminate a dominant species of fish. It is also found to contain antineoplastic glucosides, which can be used as a potential treatment for melanoma.

Scientific name: Phyllanthus acuminatus
