Ivermectin

Ivermectin

(Science: chemical) a mixture of ivermectin component b1a (rn 71827-03-7) and b1b (rn 70209-81-3), which is a semisynthetic product from streptomyces avermitilis. A potent macrocyclic lactone disaccharide antiparasitic agent used to prevent and treat parasite infestations in animals. The compound has activity against internal and external parasites and has been found effective against arthropods, insects, nematodes, filarioidea, platyhelminths, and protozoa.

Pharmacological action: anthelmintic, antinematodal agent, antiplatyhelmintic agents, antiprotozoal agents, filaricides, insecticide.
