Isoionic point



The pH wherein a protein or a zwitterion in a deionized solution has equal number of cations and anions, resulting in no net charge.


This term is used in ion exchange chromatography. It is at this point wherein amino acid does not migrate in the electric field.

Word origin: iso- means equal + ion
