Synonym: to dishearten, dispirit, abash, deter, frighten, terrify, daunt, cow.

Origin: LL. Intimidatus, p. P. Of intimidare to frighten; pref. In- in _ timidus fearful, timid: cf. F. Intimider. See timid.
