Interstitial pneumonia

(Science: chest medicine) a form of pneumonia which involves the interstitial tissues (connective tissue) of the lung.

causes are varied and include: infection with Pneumocystis carinii, radiation exposure, toxic inhalation, viral pneumonias and giant cell pneumonia.
