(Science: anatomy, muscle) origin, iliac fossa; insertion, tendon of psoas, anterior surface of lesser trochanter, and capsule of hip joint; action, flexes thigh and rotates it medially; nerve supply, lumbar plexus.

Synonym: musculus iliacus, iliac muscle.
