Is ethane a carbohydrate?

Ok I found this topic: http://www.biology-online.org/biology-forum/about3744.html which tells me that ethane isn't a carbohydrate, that it's a hydrocarbonate, but it doesn't explain to me why, and I can't find it in my textbook. I don't understand...is it because there's more hydrogen in ethane ...
