(Science: medicine) Causing a discharge of water; expelling serum effused into any part of the body, as in dropsy.

a hydragogue medicine, usually a cathartic or diuretic.

Origin: L. Hydragogus conveying off water, gr.; ydwr water _ to lead: cf. F. Hydragogue.
