Hounds-tongue

(Science: botany) a biennial weed (Cynoglossum officinale), with soft tongue-shaped leaves, and an offensive odour. It bears nutlets covered with barbed or hooked prickles.

Synonym: dogs-tongue.

Origin: as. Hundes tunge.
