noun, plural: hindlimbs
The back limb, or the posterior extremity of an animal.
The hindlimb consists of the femur, tibia, fibula, tarsals, metatarsals and toes.
When referring to the back legs of four-legged animals the term hind leg is more often used than hindlimb.
Variant: hind limb
