Herpes simplex

(Science: virology) The herpes simplex virus is responsible for several different infections in humans: gingivostomatitis (in children), pharyngitis, oral and lip lesions (recurrent herpes simplex type 1), proctitis, (type 2) and genital herpes (type 2).
