A radiologically detectable line that lies parallel to the growth plate in the metaphysis, indicating a temporary arrest of bone growth.

In dinosaur fossils, there are two types of growth lines: the annuli and the lines of arrested growth. Based on these two the longevity of the dinosaur can be approximately determined.
