Origin: as. Gor dirt, dung; akin to Icel. Gor, SW. Gorr, OHG. Gor, and perh. To E. Cord, chord, and yarn; cf. Icel. Gorn, garnir, guts.

about al gore. When he was over here a few months ago he told a nice story. apparently a woman told him in a diner "You know if you dye your hair black and loose some weight, you'll look just like Al Gore!" Funny :-) ...
