Glomerulus

A small intertwined group of capillaries in the malpighian body; glomeruli filter blood during urine formation.A closely knitted structure of cappillaries found in vertebrate kidneys that is responsible for filtering the blood, by reabsorbing useful materials and excreting waste materials from the bloodstream and excretory organs.

Protein isn't filtered - if you have protein in your urine, you have problems.

How does the glomerulus filter protein?

When protein is being filtered out of the blood, how do the solutes and the plasma diffuse through to Bowman's capsule?

Since proteins and blood cells are way too big to be filtraded in the glomerulus, yes, they are not part of the filtrate. But don't forget that due to some diseases, there may be blood cells in the filtrate (and in the urine, too). Also, when someone's got ...

Hi, When the blood is filtrated in the glomerulus, is the resultant called "filtrate" containing no glucose, proteins, or cells (like red blood cells) but only ions, water, urea? Thanks! Maruko
