Definition

The stage in which a germ or a living thing starts to sprout, grow and develop.

Germination in plants is the process by which a dormant seed begins to sprout and grow into a seedling under the right growing conditions.

In bacteria or fungi, germination is the process in which a spore begins to grow vegetative cells, and sporeling hyphae.

I don't get this. You are using spores and you are trying to find a media that does not stimulate germination but supports vegetative cells? How does that work? If they are in spore form that is because they are in unsuitable conditions. So how can some be in vegetative ...
