Gene regulation

Definition

noun

The modulation of any of the stages of gene expression, hence, it encompasses the various systems that control and determine which genes are switched on and off, and when, how long, and to what extent the genes are expressed.

Supplement

Gene regulation may occur in the following stages of gene expression:

Gene regulation of the lac operon of the prokaryotes was the first genetic regulatory mechanism to be elucidated.

Variant: regulation of gene expression

Problem with the normalization of PCR Ct values

... something like "The expression was observed to be X copies of the gene of interest mRNA / copy of reference gene mRNA" ? Finally if I want to present the data as 2^ΔCt, negative values mean down-regulation and positive values up-regulation? If you could suggest any literature ...

Genetic testing: reliability, accuracy, experience?

It is not "the genes" that cause genetic diseases, since most of us contain all the same genes. ... The genes and their expression is often a very complicated process involving many regulation steps and lots of interaction with other genes, so the existence of a bad allele ...
