Gasserian ganglion

A sensory ganglion, containing the cell bodies of the sensory fibers of the trigeminal nerve, situated on the anterior lateral wall of the Meckel's cave.


Supplement

This ganglion is a collection of sensory nerve cells of the trigeminal cranial nerve responsible for sensation in the face.

Clinically, this ganglion can serve as a location for herpes virus latency and reactivation.
