The hemolytic reactions of streptococci on blood agar plates can be used for their preliminary identification and classification. For instance, Streptococcus pneumoniae forms alpha hemolysis, Streptococcus pyogenes forms beta hemolysis, and Enterococcus faecalis displays gamma hemolysis on blood agar plates.

blood agar hemolysis by gram negative bacteria?... even i am working on hemolysins of leptospira ...u can also conform hemolysis not only by blood agar assay ..u can also conform by taking sheep ... of hemolysis...but blood agar assay gives u details abt alpha r beta r gamma....

blood agar hemolysis by gram negative bacteria?... I can only find information on blood agar hemolyis for gram positive bacteria. Can I take this to mean that gram negative bacteria are generally gamma hemolytic? If so, are there any notable exceptions to this?
