mutation-selection balance

... mutation introduces a new copy of the lethal dominant disease allele into a population, natural selection eliminates it. In this case, p, the gene frequency of the lethal allele in the population, is equal to μ, the mutation rate (p = μ). We can use the same principles to predict the relationship ...

Re: mutations and dependencies

... know next to nothing about homology, so I can't speak on that any further. The 'theory' of 'evolution' again is not a 'theory' (not change in gene frequency, or any change in any living thing ever). No it can never be 'falsified' because 1) Its not science to begin with 2) Anything on earth (even ...

Help??? Genetics problem cannot figure it out?

Genes for color blindness and hemophilia are linked on the X-chromosome in humans with a recombination frequency of 30%. A woman whose father was a color blind hemophiliac and mother was normal with no history of color blindness and hemophilia wants to have children. The prospective ...

Pyrosequencing

... cosmic mutational database answered my question (it is not certain, that a C for example always changes to G, it could be T or A at a much lower frequency). But then: Should I include those rare variants too in the dispensation order? Another thing, which mode should I use to design such assays: ...

Markerless mutants using suicide vector

... troubleshooting these types of issues? One specific concern I had was the GC content of my 5' vs. 3' flanking region and how that could affect the frequency of crossing-out to yield mutant vs. WT allele. Thanks a lot for your time and let me know if anything I've said is unclear. :D
