Fluid bilayer model

Definition

A model depicting the organization of the components of biological membranes

Supplement

This model is the widely accepted model to describe the structural organization of biological membranes, such as the plasma membrane. In this model, the phospholipid component is arranged in bilayer whereas the proteins are seemingly floating on the bilayer, indicating fluidity.
