Flexible

1. Capable of being flexed or bent; admitting of being turned, bowed, or twisted, without breaking; pliable; yielding to pressure; not stiff or brittle. When the splitting wind makes flexible the knees of knotted oaks. (Shak)

2. Willing or ready to yield to the influence of others; not invincibly rigid or obstinate; tractable; manageable; ductile; easy and compliant; wavering. Phocion was a man of great severity, and no ways flexible to the will of the people. (Bacon) Women are soft, mild, pitiful, and flexible. (Shak)

On the number of limbs.

Four-finned ancestors, not too surprisingly, leads to four-limbed descendants. Arthropods have been a bit more flexible, but the general trend seems to have been toward leg loss, as in insects. Plus wings that did not start as legs.

any clues what this is, please?

... one, because it's light and hollow and just not tooth material. An air bladder - had to look this up on Wiki, but I'd imagine it would have soft flexible walls? this thing hasn't collapsed out of the water, so it has some structure to it. My original thought was also an egg, but of what?? weird ...
