Ficoll-hypaque technique



A density-gradient centrifugation technique to separate lymphocytes from other formed elements in the blood.


The procedure includes layering of sample onto a Ficoll-sodium metrizoate gradient of specific density, centrifugation, and finally collection of lymphocytes from the plasma-Ficoll interface.
