Making fertile as by applying fertilizer or manure.Creation by the physical union of male and female gametes; of sperm and ova in an animal or pollen and ovule in a plant.An occurrence in reproduction where the male and female gametes fuse to form a zygote which will eventually grow into a mature adult form of the parent organisms.

The mechanism of sperm fertilisation, with the y chromosome being lighter I don't know the validity of, but it seems a reasonable presumption. I personally think that the ratio is perhaps due to the preservation of genetic diversity. ...

Darby is correct. Short answer is no. Fertilisation is more complex than the simple picture given, and many other factors have to be right.
