Re: membrane-bound enzyme?

... molecule to bind to a mobile enzyme (in the case of photosynthesis, this is probably referring to a membrane-soluble electron carrier such as ferredoxin or flavidoxin).

The Fiber Disease

... One of the best examples of post-transcriptional regulation of a nuclear-encoded mRNA is that of the pea Fed-1 gene, which encodes the chloroplast ferredoxin protein. Fed-1 is regulated by light at the levels of mRNA stability and translation. For Fed-1, light-regulated mRNA stability and translation ...

water oxidizing clock in light reaction of photosynthesis

... candidate for noncyclic photophosphorylation and for NADPH production. PS1 is very good at transferring an electron, whether it be to NADP or to ferredoxin (fd). It is a powerful reductant. PS2, on the other hand, is better at grabbing electrons from water to transfer them to quinone (Q). It ...

light dependent reaction on photosynthesis

Cyclic Photophosphorylation 1. Light hits the chlorophyll, it takes on energy and moves to a higher energy state. 2. An electron acceptor, Ferredoxin, carries them to a carrier system which contains 3 enzymes. 3. As they move through this system, the energy the electrons are carrying is slowly ...

The Fiber Disease

... with other intracellular processes. They do so by redirecting the electrons and protons, ultimately produced by water oxidation, at the level of ferredoxin/NADPH into hydrogenase. Beginning in 2005, we are leading a national research team comprised of five institutions that seeks to harness natural ...
