Euclase

(Science: chemical) a brittle gem occurring in light green, transparent crystals, affording a brilliant clinodiagonal cleavage. It is a silicate of alumina and glucina.

Origin: gr. Well, easily _ to break. Cf. F. Euclase, g. Euklas. See named from its brittleness.
