Endometriosis

(Science: gynaecology) a condition in which tissue more or less perfectly resembling the uterine mucous membrane (the endometrium) and containing typical endometrial granular and stromal elements occurs aberrantly in various locations in the pelvic cavity.

Synonym: adenomyosis externa, endometriosis externa.
