Enalaprilat

(Science: chemical) (s)-1-(n-(1-carboxy-3-phenylpropyl)-l-alanyl)-l-proline dihydrate. The active metabolite of enalapril and a potent intravenously administered angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor. It is an effective agent for the treatment of essential hypertension and has beneficial haemodynamic effects in heart failure. The drug produces renal vasodilation with an increase in sodium excretion.

Pharmacological action: angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, antihypertensive agents.
