... be wrong with the baby and start the treatment at an early stage. ---- I don't think my answer is on point though, it's really vague. and kind of drifts towards Amniocentesis because I haven't found much when doing research for it... any suggestions?

natural selection and genetic drift

one the main lessons here is that the an allele drifts quicker to dominance in smaller populations, which similarly allows for quicker fixation of neutral alleles in smaller populations than in huge populations.
