Origin: Named from 1st colour, fr. F. Doree gilded, fr. Dorer to gild, L. Deaurare. See Deaurate, and cf. Aureole.

1. (Science: zoology) a European fish. See doree, and john doree.

2. (Science: zoology) The American wall-eyed perch; called also dore. See pike perch.
