Western Blot

... prepared from a cell, detergents can be used to make the proteins unfold into the linear chain of amino acids. Using a detergent such as sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) makes proteins unfold and gives them a net negative charge that is directly related to their molecular size. Using this feature, ...

The Fiber Disease

... not found in a similar fraction from uninfected brain. The protein migrated with an apparent molecular size of 27,000 to 30,000 daltons in sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gels. The resistance of this protein to digestion by proteinase K distinguished it from proteins of similar molecular ...

ration of q/ms and SDS PAGE

In SDS PAGE we use sodium dodecyl sufate to make the ration of q/m s of two diff peptides nearly equal still keeping the difference between them the same. This tells that this ration is only important here... why??? I think the difference ...

Paraormaldehyde action in immunofluorescence.

... with aldehydes require a permeabilization step with a detergent. Triton X-100 is a popular permeabilizing agent, as are saponin, Tween, and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). After permeabilization, cells are treated with a primary antibody (or a mixture of two different antibodies from different hosts) ...
