4. An instrument for dividing lines, describing circles, etc, compasses. See Compasses.

The word dividers is usually applied to the instrument as made for the use of draughtsmen, etc.; compasses to the coarser instrument used by carpenters.

... to examine the following: do goldfish prefer to attack groups of daphnia or individuals. we are provided with 5 fish, 5 plastic tanks, tank dividers, boiling tubes, a sieve, stop watchers and pipettes. how can we set the experiment out do any of you have any good ideas ? Thank you.
