Diesterase --> phosphodiesterases

enzymes (EC sub-subclass 3.1.4) cleaving phosphodiester bonds, such as those in camp or between nucleotides in nucleic acids, liberating smaller poly-or oligonucleotide units or mononucleotides but not inorganic Phosphate.

Synonym: phosphodiester hydrolases.
