The chemical formula for respiration is something like; C6H12O6 + O2 ----> CO2 + H2O + Energy So the 698Kcal number is not energy used, rather energy created or available.

Delta G and me

I have tried and tried to find the answer to this and am dumbfounded. Although it is probably elementary to most. The question is: Why is Delta G -686 k/cal per mol of glucose. I do not want the answer directly just a place to go so I can get the answer myself. Please help. Guide oh science ...

... is the same thing as slope of a line. You need two x values and two y values. Such as (2,1)(4,2) These are xy coordinates. Rate of change is DeltaY/Delta X or in our example above 1-2/2-4 = -1/2 This number is only meaningful if your graph is linear. In your case above it did not appear so. ...

... the recombinase eliminates any "floxed" gene and there you have it. I suppose you can call your deleted chromosomes anything you want. Delta/delta is a natural choice it seems to me.
