Decay accelerating factor

(Science: biochemistry, protein) plasma protein that regulates complement cascade by blocking the formation of the C3bBb complex (the C3 convertase of the alternate pathway).

Widely distributed in tissues but deficient in paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria.
