Daman

(Science: zoology) a small herbivorous mammal of the genus Hyrax. The species found in Palestine and Syria is Hyrax Syriacus; that of northern Africa is H. Brucei.

Synonym: ashkoko, dassy, and rock rabbit. See Cony, and Hyrax.
