I need to buy an enzyme

... enzyme/reagent for in vitro DNA demethylation of genomic DNA? I want to do the reaction on extracted (clean) DNA, so 5-azacytidine, which is a methyltransferase inhibitor, is not good for me. Thank you for your help. :)

Re: Difference between histone's and DNA's methyltransferase?

I dunno if it helps..but you can detect DNA methylation by methylation specific PCR (MSP). First you treat DNA with sodium bisulfite under alkaline conditions.Result is conversion of unmethylated Cs to Us.Methylated Cs are unchanged. Then add specific primer that will anneal only if that segment of D...

Difference between histone's and DNA's methyltransferase?

I want to know the typical differences between histone methyltransferase and DNA transferase . How could I detect enzyme activity of histone methyltransferases in vitro? Anything you can tell me would me much appreciated, thanks

TMPT

I am a bit confused. I am doing a research project. I was given a section of DNA, and identified the gene as Thiopurine S-methyltransferase, which I know is also known as EC 2.1.1.67 or Thiopurine methyltransferase. I was then asked what protein it codes for. Is it correct to say that ...
