Dabchick

(Science: zoology) a small water bird (Podilymbus podiceps), allied to the grebes, remarkable for its quickness in diving.

Synonym: dapchick, dobchick, dipchick, didapper, dobber, devil-diver, hell-diver, and pied-billed grebe.
