Cytotoxic T cell

Definition

noun

A T cell expressing CD8 receptor, and involved in inducing death of infected somatic cells and cancer cells.


Supplement

This type of T cell has CD8 receptor that can recognize antigen on the surface of a host cell infected with virus and other pathogens. Infected cells are subsequently killed by cytotoxic T cell.
