Cysteine

(Science: amino acid) The only amino acid to contain a thiol (SH) group. In intracellular enzymes the unique reactivity of this group is frequently exploited at the catalytic site. In extracellular proteins found only as _ cystine in disulphide bridges or fatty acylated.

unknown bacteria

... for acid and gas with Glucose, Sucrose, Lactose, and maltose. I have a + for citrate utilization and catalase. Negative on gelatin hydrolysis, cysteine digestion, tryptophan digestion, and urea. I think I may have it narrowed down but I am hitting some walls. Any ideas? John
