please can someone explaint to me the function of the cortical cells in a coleoptile of wheat plant. thanks, all help is much appreciated

Tropism

Decapitated coleoptile is used to receive unilateral light,why does it not bend? Auxins will be concentrated on shaded side,won't it show extra growth there?
