Using Colchicine for Polyploids

So I was wondering... Colchicine is used to create polyploid plants. It acts as a mitotic spindle poison which can cause nondisjunction of the entire genome. What I was wondering was that if you were to treat a seed with a colchicine ...

Re: sporophytic haploids....is it true?

... of haploid plants can be greatly increased using anther culture (q.v.). Homozygous diploid plants can then be generated by treatment with colchicine (q.v.).

Chemically induced poly/tetraploidy

Colchicine: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colchicine I do not have a protocol to induce mutation, but maybe a search with the right name might prove helpful. The second problem is do you have access to a lab that is allowed ...

Polyploidy in Fruit Trees

Try more of the effects of colchicine and cell division. Topics on genetically modified organisms(GMO) is nice to include or discuss.

Polyploidy in Fruit Trees

Well, what kind of stuff would you like us to contribute? I'm sure you know a lot about colchicine and how colchicine effects cells and such. So if you could narrow down the search, maybe we could add something and be productive a little bit :P
