Codon reiteration disorder


noun, plural: trinucleotide repeat disorders

Any of a set of genetic disorders caused by codon reiteration or trinucleotide repeats exceeding the stable threshold. This codon reiteration expand in successive generations resulting in a non-Mendelian inheritance pattern.


Fragile X syndrome, Huntington disease, myotonic dystrophy, and Machado-Joseph disease are some of the examples of this type of disorder
