Cisterna basalis



(anatomy) Latin term for basal cistern, a cavity where the arachnoid extends across between the two temporal lobes, and encloses the cerebral peduncles including the structures contained in the interpeduncular fossa.


Synonym: interpendicular cistern, Tarin's space.
